"Untitled 99, firstly, was meant to be named something else eventually, but the more I wrote, the more the name became an unconscious staple. This play is strictly motivated by repression. I’ve watched cycles tirelessly repeat themselves and cause irrevocable damage. I’ve watched the mamas of my world emotionally & spiritually trap themselves while simultaneously screeching in objection. This play is inspired by all the women of my universe. This play is dedicated to the 99 plus unspoken emotions, traumas, battlescries, war grunts and everything else that has gone unheard or silenced into us. This play highlights the untitled, unspoken, unnamed faces, mothers, sisters, aunties, women of this world who fought for everything and neither received nor asked for anything in return. This play calls attention to the responsibility of being a black woman, period."
